Marking our 20th year, we are delighted to launch a second wallpaper collaboration with Albany. The five designs in the collection reflect key milestones in Mini Moderns history and revisit some of our most enduring design themes, including the landscape around our beach house in Dungeness, the 1951 Festival of Britain, and mid-century ceramic and textile designs.
Each design comes in 4 colourways, fittingly making a total of twenty wallpapers in this anniversary collection.
Cascade With its atomic dots and hand drawn lines, Cascade takes inspiration from the work of the 1951 Festival Pattern Group, whilst also referencing another Mini Moderns fascination – the wooden molecular models that we loved in science class.
Dungeness Boats Born out of our enduring relationship with Dungeness, on the south Kent coast, this pattern depicts an array of fishing boats – some long abandoned on the shingle, some still used by the fishing community – all woven together by a swirl of rope.
Garden Party This design reflects the post-war boom in gardening and outdoor entertaining. Its wire-frame style illustrations of trowels, pot plants, decanters and candelabra subtly reference the work of some of our favourite mid-century designers, such as Enid Seeney and Marian Mahler.
Lattice and Line With textures expressed through hand-drawn linework and tonal cross-hatching, this abstract, superscale stripe is inspired by our exploration of the Dungeness shingle beach, where we often encounter fishing nets, coils of rope, rusted steel cable and stacks of lobster pots.
Kitchenalia Conveying a nostalgic vibe of 1960s kitchen wallpapers, Kitchenalia features an array of mid-century culinary silhouettes. This gaggle of gastronomic gadgets is set against a bold gingham tablecloth, which abstractly permeates the entire print.
